Floating into Autumn

Oh this smell of earth and wet autumn leaves.
I don’t mind at all if the sunshine leaves.
Crisp whiff of the wind, sight of colours in trees.
My soul and my being longs for the fresh hush of a breeze
.

Yes that time of year is upon us once again. The cold dark nights are feeling their way closer to our homes as we try to cling to the daylight and the ever decreasing rays of sun. But one thing is for sure, you cannot ignore the seductive colour of autumnal leaves as they spiral from the branches of trees. They float gracefully. A kaleidoscopic pirouette of rusted, burnt oranges and caramel mustard punctuated by chestnut and bronze. Bearing witness to the transition between Summer and Autumn continues to inspire me to wield my brushes and paint. The seasons are a gift, allowing us to experience nature’s palette to fullest. We must stop and observe the beauty around us. I echo Van Gogh’s sentiments that to ‘keep a love of nature is the true way to understand art.’ I aim to capture this in my Autumn series.
